Steps for Applicants from Algeria

1. Verification of Professional Qualification

  • Nursing qualifications obtained in Algeria are compared with the German training for “Registered Nurse (Pflegefachfrau / Pflegefachmann)”.
  • The responsible body is the recognition authority of the respective federal state (usually the regional government or state health office).

⏱️ Duration: approx. 1–3 months for document review (depending on the federal state)

    • Certificates of education / diplomas

3. Provide Proof of Language Skills

  • For professional recognition as a nurse, German language level B2 (according to CEFR) is generally required.

  • In some cases, B1 is sufficient initially if a bridging or adaptation program is planned.

⏱️ Language training to B2: usually 6–12 months, depending on your starting level

4. Deficit Assessment by the Authority

    • ✅ Yes: Full recognition → direct professional license.

    • ⚠️ No: Differences are identified → an adaptation course or knowledge test is required.
